What is an FR4 PCB?

FR-4 is a material grade used in PCB manufacturing, made of fibreglass and epoxy resin. As a flame-retardant grade 4 glass-reinforced epoxy laminate, it is the most widely used substrate in the electronics industry thanks to its excellent mechanical, thermal, and electrical properties. FR-4 boards are suitable for everything from low-cost consumer gadgets to high-reliability aerospace and medical devices.
